Reps Probe N6 Billion SIM Card Registration

The House of Representatives Committee on communications has commenced investigation into the N6.1 billion expended by the Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC) for Subscriber Identification Module (SIM) in 2011.

Deputy Chairman of the House committee on communications, Rep. Usman Bawa (CPC, Kaduna) told newsmen during the weekend in Abuja that, the panel will investigate the registration exercise conducted by NCC after the service providers embarked on same project.

Bawa revealed that the NCC had requested for an additional N1billion for SIM registration in the 2012 budget proposal but the committed denied the request because the commission was yet to fully account for the N6.1 billion earlier approved.
