Globacom widens lead in NCC’s Second Quarter Report

Globacom reports that it has consolidated its lead over Airtel in Nigeria’s telecommunications industry by posting a 4.98 percent growth rate between March and June this year.

According to statistics released by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Globacom had 25,019,862 active connections in the months under review, compared with Airtel’s 21,591,904 connections.

It stated that Globacom raked in over 3.4million active lines during the quarter as against the negative 1.21 per cent recorded during the first quarter.

In the period under review, Airtel Nigeria, according to NCC recorded a negative growth over the preceding quarter with -8.78 percent.

Globacom described the report as a welcome development, adding that the company would not rest on its oars in the provision of quality, value-adding telecommunications services.
